Public Licenses in Italy

Foreign entrepreneurs could find the process of getting a public license in Italy difficult and time consuming. Usually they ask us to manage the whole process, not just drafting legal documents but dealing with the Italian bureaucracy until the job is done. All the years spent working for big corporation and public offices is particularly helpful in this area.

We could manage either licenses connected to the nature of the company (such as opening a bank, a telecom operator, a gold trader, a foundation, etc.) or connected to the type of trading (such us gambling, energy, environment, etc).

You have probably read about the necessity of finding the right middleman in Italy, to bribe your way up to the licence . Well this is NOT what we are. And we also believe that this could be also a waste of money.

Corruption is less common than you believe. The biggest issue in Italy is a chaotic organisation and a confusing legal system. An accurate knowledge of this bureaucratic environment is what you really need to reach your goal. This is not just more useful than any knowledge of law books, but usually more effective than a bribe (not to mention that doesn’t carry the risk of corrupting a public officer).

From the startup of T&Partners in 2005, we have worked on a vaste number of national and regional licences for our clients, including uncommon goals, such us the setup of a university, vat tax exemption for private foundations, a national lottery, and even the registration of a church.

We get involved with many major  public bodies, just to name a few: central bank Banca Italia, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Energy Market, Energy Authority, Authority for Telecommunications, Region Lombardia.

In all these years we have never being forced to pay a bribe.  You can check some of these case studies and in our blog Business In Italy Made Simple. We have developed recurring procedure for many of these licenses, to reduce the costs. Others requires our most senior team and should be quoted case by case. Whatever is the case, feel free to contact us.
